Figurarts Zero: Sailor Jupiter!

Sailor Jupiter from the Figurarts Zero line was the newest addition to my figurine collection this past Christmas. It was between her and Sailor Venus and my lovely sibling picked this one.

I love her expression and the detail given to the shading aspect. I put it next to my Mercury from the same line and was quite surprised to see how 2-D Mercury was in comparison. It's unfortunate that I can't put the two next to one another and I'm disappointed in Bandai for not putting the same attention to earlier figurines. It's for this reason I will not purchase Sailor Moon despite being fond of figurines that try to showcase attacks.

Another downfall of this figurine is that her skirt is very open. From the side, one can see her open side thigh and curve of the bum. It makes it a bit difficult to appreciate the colour scheme and lovely pose without having Sailor Jupiter sexualized. Honestly, I never been so annoyed at the perverted fans that get off of this kind of detail. C'mon, everyone.

So aside from these issues, I do love the rest of her and I look forward to getting Mars and Venus to complete my collection :)

My goodness! This blog became more popular than I could've hoped for! I'm sure the two recent, full posts (Mothers of Diabolik Lovers & When Destiny Takes Over IV) had a big part to play. Therefore, here's a image to convey my thanks:

Diabolik Lovers: The Importance of Mothers

As much as I disliked Diabolik Lovers, the anime made a good case study as to how the writers and developers justified the kind of men the Sakamaki become and their treatment of Yui. Was it really justified? In some cases, it was definitely debatable - they all clearly disrespected women because of how their mothers treated them.

And that brings me to my main point: the Diabolik mothers.

A Sailor Mercury Christmas :)

This Christmas was a super one in regards to presents :) Two of the best ones came from my sister, who is the complete opposite of me and isn't a fan of anime, in the form of Sailor Mercury figures. So that makes these presents that much more special!

The first one is the one I've been pining for this past year: Sailor Mercury FiguartsZERO.

I love the action snapshot in Ami's element and the expression is the cherry on top. I really wish she had a gentle smile but her concentrated expression is good enough. The pleats and shadow work is amazing, making the price so worth it (she was purchased through Amazon Prime for $89.99, which is better than $126 that I've been seeing locally).

The splash at the base makes a great effect to the overall piece as well as the water that seems to bend to her will at the corner. This figure line is phenomenal with the exception of Sailor Moon, which was AWFUL. I'll eventually be adding the

The second figure I was given this morning was from the Girls Memories by Banpresto. My sister said this was the one she could get before Christmas prior to learning about the other one on Prime. I do like the simplicity of this one, especially the typical Ami smile.

In regards to colour palette, the shades are much lighter. It reflects a peaceful and carefree atmosphere, a great contrast to the previous figure, that comes in a lovely dark blue palette, in multiple ways. This was the pose she ended her transformation scene in the first series so a great reminder of the days of old.

One thing that definitely is the same with both of them is the...accurate details of Ami's covered crotch and bum. My lovely sister described it as "pervertedly right" and I have to say that yes, I do agree with her. In the second figure, the leotard bottom falls naturally against the bum while the first depicts a much rounder bottom and a much more artistic approach to it because of the angle.

Aside from that, these figures are wonderful and I'm so happy to receive them. Unfortunately, there wasn't many friends I could show this to because they wouldn't really care much, haha.

I hope everyone else's Christmas was marvelous as possible :)

When Destiny Takes Over: Athrun x Cagalli (Part IV)

The amount of support and feedback I received for the latest (and overall) AsuCaga analysis was phenomenal! Thank you for the kind words as they are the best motivation to finish the series. I couldn't get this up earlier since I was waiting for resources that, unfortunately, didn't come through but I'm grateful of your patience. At the same time, I was trying to learn how to make GIFs...that failed nicely. Stills will have to do for now.

Without further ado, let's begin the last part of this analysis. The only disclaimer I have here is that this post is much more image & text heavy than my other posts. At this point in the series, please keep in mind that Athrun and Cagalli begin to walk on their separate paths so despite the fact that they are closer in distance physically, they are on two different levels politically.

In the last article, I ended with Athrun's unconventional - and repetitive - return to the Archangel. He was cared for by Cagalli, as was noted by AsuCaga fanboy Kira, and Meyrin was looked after by Miriallia. Athrun's been the focus of this manifesto of sorts for obvious reasons but let's talk more in depth about my favourite girl in the SEED series: Ms. Cagalli Yula Attha.

When Destiny Takes Over: Athrun x Cagalli (Part III)

Before we continue on AsuCaga’s relationship, I think it’s important to discuss the triangle this image depicts in the show. It may not be the love triangle it alludes to and it's imperative to iron out the wrinkles in this "threesome". From the picture above, it's only Meer who acknowledges another while Cagalli & Athrun are more concerned with other matters.

In the last post, we saw the Orb military's loyalty to Cagalli. She's on the right path towards attaining her position as Head Representative. Athrun, on the other hand, is in the questioning phase of his development. He thought he's lost Kira and now, his heart is with the Archangel. Durandel picks up on this and it's time to get rid of Athrun.

His escapade involves Meer & Meyrin.

Between Meyrin & Meer, I believe Meer contributed a lot to Athrun’s development whereas Athrun was a catalyst to Meyrin’s development. It'll be a Meer-heavy post but please bear with me as it will all come together in the end!

She has it all: the finest clothes and cosmetics, the most divine sweets, a loving emperor as a father, and the hottest cousin crush, Soo-won, anyone could ever hope to have. Now, if only her bodyguard, Son Hak, wasn't so annoying to her and her hair wasn't so red.

4 Things to Avoid When Writing Fanfiction

One of my favourite characters is Ryuzaki Sakuno and since she is a minor character in Prince of Tennis, I look to fanfiction for development or romance stories. I hadn't been to fanfiction.net as a reader for awhile and decided to visit.

Well, the number of rookie mistakes I found was phenomenal! While I am not a famous fanfic writer, I have had some moderate success. That being said, here are some tips and things to completely avoid:

As mentioned last time here, the awakening of Sailor Mercury occurs. It’s a little disheartening that each episode is released every two weeks but I suppose it makes it that much more interesting for us fans.

Sailor Moon Crystal: Episode 1 Review

The long awaited Sailor Moon Crystal finally made its appearance last week and boy, was I happy to see it!

There are many who have been pulling every single aspect of the show apart but I am among those who is appreciating the show for what it is.

That being said, the following review will be a bit biased since I liked the first episode that much ;)

Kamigami no Asobi Review | Episode 1 & 2 (Spoilers)

(right to left) Takeru, Tsukito, Apollon, Yui, Baldr, Loki, Hades

Another anime I was looking forward to was Kamigami no Asobi - a series focusing on pagan gods as the love interests for Kusanagi Yui as they try to conquer high school for the future of both gods and humanity alike.

Initially, it was exciting to get two reverse harem anime in one season and honestly, the first episode was a let down but it picked up again by episode 2.

La Corda D'Oro: Blue Sky | Episode 1 Review

This April, La Corda D'Oro: Blue Sky has been released! The best part is that it doesn't have connections to the first installment aside from taking place in the same school.

I just finished watching the first episode and there were more positive feelings than negative. I wrote about the manga adaption here if anyone is interested.

LGBT marriages not recognized in Japan

Last year, there was hype over Japan's first lesbian married couple to the extent of having a manga ("Lesbian-teki Kekkon Seikatsu") being published based on their married life.

Cool but what's this? Japan hasn't legalized LGBT marriages?
